Energy Crisis – Upgrade your lighting to LED and save
The high cost of Energy (particularly electricity) seems here to stay. One often overlooked saving is the switch to all LED lighting, sometimes this is just a matter of buying new efficient lamps for your house fittings.
Modern LED lamps (aka lightbulbs) use a fraction of the electricity used by the older incandescent ones. These old tungsten filament lamps waste up to 93% of electricity as emitted heat – obvious to anyone who has accidently burned their fingers removing one. Modern LED bulbs run warm, or even cold, being much more efficient. There is also an obvious fire safety improvement removing Halogen lamps.
Savings calculation
Older Halogen GU10 lamp @ 40 Watts each
Modern LED GU10 lamp @ 4 Watts each
Typical 3 Bedroom House with 30x 40W (Halogen) Lamps = 1,200 Watts (30×40=1,200) consumption
Exact same 3 Bedroom House with 30x 4W (LED) Lamps = 120 Watts (30×4=150) consumption
This equates to a 90% saving on electricity costs!
No brainer?
Watch Out! There is a plethora of lamp choice on the market, with models that can offer colour and switching control via an App. The technology is varied and many cheap versions will not work with dimmer controls or other models of lamps on the same lighting zone. We offer a full inventory and advice on light colour and/or brightness.
